Location: L'Estartit (Girona)
Duration: 12 minutes
Participants: 1 person
The perfect introduction to the world of aviation - an unforgettable flight over the Costa Brava, with jaw-dropping views and a chance to take the controls yourself.
The experience begins with a pre flight briefing, where you'll be introduced to the plane's most important instruments, shown how each control effects direction, speed and altitude, and discuss the details of your route.
Then, once inside the cockpit, you'll get to see everything up close! You'll watch as the pilot goes through his checklists in preparation for take off, communicating all the while with controllers via radio. Then it's time to take off into the beautiful blue skies of Girona.
You'll be flying an Aeroprakt A22, a superb two-seater plane with excellent visibility and dual controls which will allow you to assist the pilot in a range of manoeuvres, including climbs, descents and banking. The route, which passes over one most picturesque stretches of the Costa Brava, is truly spectacular.
Departing from the Aerodrome of L'Estartit, you'll enjoy dramatic, picture-postcard views of the Medes Islands (las Islas Medas), an archipelago of seven little rocky islets, home to one of the most important marine reserves in the Western Mediterranean.
Flights of 15 minutes or more will continue north along the fabled Costa Brava, taking in its majestic combination of golden beaches and rugged cliffs, before arriving at the Montgrí Massif mountain range with its impressive medieval fortress.
Still further north, flights of 30 minutes or more will reach the sandy crescent beaches of Escala and the ancient ruined city of Empuries (Ampurias), founded by Greek settlers in 575 B.C, and later an important Roman town.
Flights of 45 minutes or more will reach the Bay of Roses and the wetlands of Aiguamolls, a national park home to 327 different species.
Finally, flights of one hour or more will reach of the prettiest sights in all of Cataluña, the sleepy fishing village of Cadaqués, once home to Salvador Dali, as well as the windblown promontory of Cap de Creus, the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula.
By the time you land, you should have a camera full of wonderful photographs, so don't forget to bring one along! The captain will also be more than happy to take a few snaps of you at the controls during the flight!
Also, if you'd like to suggest an alternative flight route, feel free to let the pilot know. If time and conditions allow, he will be more than happy to oblige!
Note: if you'd like to enjoy this experience as a couple or with a friend, you also have the option of flying together in formation - with the two planes travelling in parallel. Contact us for more information.
All year, from Tuesday to Sunday.
The Aeroprakt A22 is a two-seater plane, so the experience is limited to 1 participant (the co-pilot). Guests are welcome to accompany the co-pilot at the aerodrome.
Adverse weather conditions can sometimes make flying impossible. If your flight is called off for bad weather, a new, alternative date will be offered.
In certain rare circumstances – such as an unforeseen change in the weather or extreme nervousness on the part of the client - the pilot may make the decision NOT to let the client fly the plane for reasons of safety.
