The perfect introduction to the world of aviation - an unforgettable flight over the epic landscapes of Extremadura, with chance to take the controls yourself!

the flight

The adventure begins inside the cockpit with a short pre-flight briefing. We'll introduce you to the plane's instrument panel, and explain how the controls effect direction, speed and altitude. Then, after a few last checks and procedures, it's time to take off into the blue skies of Extremadura!

You'll be flying a STORM XL, a two seater plane with a dual control which will allow you to assist the pilot in a range of manoeuvres, such as ascents, descents and banking. During the flight you'll enjoy jaw-dropping views of the Extremaduran countryside, with its vast plains and ancient crumbling castles.

the route

Setting out from the airport of Don Benito, we'll soon reach the Vegas del Guadiana - a beautiful, fertile landscape of rice fields, marshes and pastures home to a rich ecosystem of bird and animal life.

Continuing east, we'll approach the historic Castle of Medellin - a battered medieval fortification perched high on the banks of the River Guadiana. Later, we'll pass the hillside village of Magacela, and enjoy dramatic views of another imposing fortress - the 13th century Castle of Puebla de Alcocer.

Flights of an hour or more will reach the magnificent reservoirs of Orellana, Zújar and La Serena (the 2nd largest body of water in the Iberian peninsula, and one of the biggest in Europe.) In this part of Extremadura the surrounding plains (the dehesas) are often to be seen dotted with grazing animals, such as the famous Merino sheep, highly prized for their wool and cheese.

By the time you land, you should have a camera full of wonderful photographs, so don't forget to bring one along!

Monday to Sunday throughout the year.

The Storm XL is a two-seater plane, so the experience is limited to 1 participant (the co-pilot). Guests are welcome to accompany the co-pilot at the aerodrome.
